An Evening With Christine Ebersole

Two-Time Tony Award-Winning Star of 42nd Street & Grey Gardens
Performs Music from the American Songbook, Broadway & More
Featuring special guest Scott Frankel (composer of Grey Gardens & War Paint)
Music Directed by Lawrence Yurman
Directed by Scott Wittman

Christine Ebersole has enchanted audiences for decades with award-winning performances on screen and on stage, in live concerts, and on myriad solo and cast recordings. While early successes in film and television showcased her “multitudes” as a comedian, actress, and singer (The New York Times), Ebersole’s more recent stage performances—including her Tony Award–winning dual role in Grey Gardens—have solidified her standing as Broadway royalty. Rave reviews for her performance as Elizabeth Arden in 2017’s hit musical War Paint reveal that this “enduringly vital” talent (The New York Times)—and our love for her—is here to stay. On the small  screen, she is currently starring in the CBS hit comedy “Bob Hearts Abishola.” For this very special engagement in the Bram Goldsmith Theater, Ebersole’s signature wit and “fervent, radiant soprano” are guaranteed to surprise and delight you in an evening of memorable songbook standards.

Running Time: 90 minutes with no intermission.

Colin Hay

Colin Hay is best known as the lead singer for Men At Work, the platinum selling Australian band that topped worldwide charts in the 80s with anthems like “Down Under,” “Overkill,” and “Who Can It Be Now?”. Hay is justifiably proud of his place in pop history, but has also experienced tremendous success as a solo artist.

Over the past 15 years Hay has reinvented himself as a solo artist, regularly selling out theaters and listening rooms across the US and around the world and introducing himself to a new generation of fans in the process. The frequent use of his music in TV and film—including hit shows such as Scrubs (on which he has made several cameo appearances) Army Wives and Modern Family, plus the hit soundtrack to the film Garden State —has proven the timeless appeal of Colin Hay’s songs.

Buddy Guy

Opening set by Tom Hambridge.

Five-Time Grammy Award winner, legendary Blues artist and Blues Hall of Famer Buddy Guy is a pioneer of the Chicago blues sound, and has served as an influence to some of the most notable musician of his generation, including Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Ranked 30th in Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the “200 Greatest Guitarists of All-Time,” Buddy Guy is known for his showmanship on stage: playing his guitar with drumsticks or strolling through the audience while playing solos.

As Guy pushes forward with his astounding career, he’s careful not to forget his late contemporaries who inspired him along the way. “I went to sleep yesterday and woke up and all the great blues players are no longer with us. Muddy, Wolf, B.B.—they’re all gone. Before they passed away, when they were in their prime, we used to have a drink and a laugh and talk about how when one of us is gone, the others have to keep it going. I’m trying to do something to keep this music that I love so well alive.” And with his impressive touring schedule, and his new album, The Blues Is Alive and Well, it’s clear that the music—and Guy himself—ain’t going away anytime soon.

We hope you will join us for what promises to be a magical night!
